Alumni Experiences

My name is Ashmita Krishna and I joined SECEUR in 2008. I wanted to contribute more to the society and decided to become a volunteer. What I liked about SECEUR is that they operate on a local basis. In that way I was able to see Rotterdam in a completely other way and it definitely strengthened my bond with the city and her citizens. Besides, working for SECEUR made me a better planner and time keeper. I also enjoyed working with clients and getting involved with interviews. I spoke with people from all kind of different backgrounds and that has made me more understanding towards them. It is important for a consultant to get (or at least try to get) along with everyone. People are assets and often the key to finding a solution for the problem. Furthermore, I enjoyed working with my colleagues. Everyone at SECEUR has the same goal but we are all different. The versatility of the group makes it fun and interesting. It gets you on other paths or interests. In my case, my long lost interest in politics awoke and brought me back there again. So, working at SECEUR will open many doors for you, whether it be inside or outside doors and I am glad I did it!

My name is Rahul Unni. During my second year at university, I decided that I wanted to put some of my classroom learning into practice. I heard about SECEUR from a friend and was very impressed with what they were doing. I applied to be a consultant, and finally joined in October 2008. At SECEUR, I worked on a project to formalise the internal protocols of a client. The project was an extremely interesting one, and threw up some unexpected challenges along the way. I learned a lot about teamwork in a concrete work-based environment, while also picking up valuable skills like problem-solving and handling clients. The lessons gained from this project have been invaluable to me, and will continue to be useful throughout my life. Finally, SECEUR gave me the chance to meet some wonderful people, and I continue to cherish my friendship with my former teammates even 20 months on.

My name is Donatas Nemura and I joined SECEUR in the end of 2009 when I started the MSc Finance & Investments programme at the RSM. I was looking for some extracurricular activities and SECEUR seemed to be the best place for a newcomer. Our international team worked on the Intercultural Cities Programme in the Netherlands and it has definitely been a nice learning experience. It was a good opportunity to learn about the Netherlands and gain valuable project management and time management skills. But, at SECEUR, no matter what project you get, it’s the people that you work with that make it fun and unforgettable.
